About Trap Stats

Trap Stats is scoring software for trap clubs and leagues, made by Trap Stats, LLC in Iowa. Scorers mark targets on a phone at the trap or photograph the paper sheet, and the club's standings, averages and handicaps update themselves.

Why I built this

I joined a trap league as a sub. I've worked in technology for more than 20 years, and I kept thinking: wouldn't it be great if this just happened? I love the camaraderie in these groups, so I didn't want to lose that. I wanted to find a way to take the load off the people and volunteers who run league night. Make it easy. Make it last.

I also built Trap Stats to be cost-effective, not only for clubs but for me to maintain, support and run. There's nothing worse than the Google Labs experience: a great product disappears overnight because the company didn't want to support it anymore. Reliability, stability, scalability and security matter, especially for the people who use Trap Stats.

How it started

Trap Stats started as the scoring tool for one club's league night. It now runs any club that signs up, on one hosted service, so a club has nothing to install, run or back up.
